Grazie al finanziamento ottenuto partecipando alla sfida ChangeX di Micosoft, Il Balzo ha potuto dar vita a questo progetto con l’obiettivo di promuovere l’apprendimento e favorire un primo approccio alle materie STEM, e in particolare alla matematica, in modo innovativo.
Come? Attraverso l’utilizzo dei set LEGO!
Grazie a Changex abbiamo potuto acquistare kit lego e materiale di supporto, utili a sperimentare la presintassi matematica in modo originale e ludico.
In questi primi mesi di progetto i bambini e le bambine con neurodiversità che frequentano il Balzabimbi, guidati dall’equipe educativa del servizio, hanno partecipato ad un’attività settimanale dedicata alla messa in relazione di LEGO e numeri.
LEGO e numeri sono due aspetti ben consolidati nel panorama degli strumenti educativi della nostra equipe ma, grazie a questo progetto, abbiamo potuto sperimentarne una relazione diversa e scoprire metodi e strumenti educativi nuovi.

Oltre all’equipe, l’attivazione del progetto, ha messo in gioco anche alcuni genitori del Balzabimbi e un volontario che hanno partecipato in particolare alla fase iniziale della sfida di ChangeX.
L’attivazione di questo progetto ha permesso al Balzo di consolidare relazioni tra membri del team e di approfondirne altre, favorendo la partecipazione attiva e il senso di appartenenza alla comunità Balzo, sia dell’equipe che dei genitori.
I benefici più significativi del progetto però, sono quelli sperimentati dai partecipanti alle attività: i bambini e le bambine del Balzabimbi.
Le attività mirano infatti a favorire le interazioni e la collaborazione tra pari e ad allenare le competenze motorie fini e di coordinazione mano-occhio. Grazie al progetto, anche la creatività dei partecipanti è stata incentivata, stimolata e sostenuta attraverso esercizi di creazione di figure, forme ed elementi nuovi attraverso i mattoncini lego.
Altro elemento delle competenze cognitive allenato grazie al progetto, è stata la capacità di concentrazione e di attenzione dei bambini. Accanto a queste, utilizzando i lego in modo guidato, i bambini e le bambine hanno allenato la capacità di individuare analogie, differenze e distinzioni tra gli elementi.
